SCAD 2012 | Kensington Park Branch Library

With the ever increasing digital age, the Kensington Park Branch Library is designed to engage the community. Serving as much as a community center as it does a library, the project has three main elevated green spaces to accommodate its urban agriculture special collection. The special collection is flanked by a greenhouse element for study and an educational herb and produce rooftop garden with a workshop for demonstrations. The third floor also contains a garden as part of a larger outdoor event space. Through engaging the public and holding special events focused around the urban agriculture and DIY Americana movement; the traditional concept of a library evolves to function as a multi-dimensional learning center.
